Jazz in July Free Summer Concert Series Returns in 2024 at Hoyt Sherman Place

Hoyt Sherman Place is excited to announce their free concert series, Jazz in July, is back and even bigger for 2024 with four total performance dates! Concerts are scheduled for Tuesdays, July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30, with openers performing at 5:15 PM and 6:30 PM outside on the lawn, and headliners hitting the theater stage inside at 8:00 PM.

This free summer program wouldn’t be possible without the help of its premier sponsor, Principal Foundation, as well as expertise from Jazz in July’s Arts Advisor John Krantz.

5:15-6:15 PM : Valley Jazz Combo outside on John & Penny Krantz Stage
6:30-7:30 PM: Big Fun outside on EMC Plaza
8:00-9:30 PM: Max Wellman w/ The Nate Sparks Big Band inside on Theater Stage

Tuesday, July 16
5:15-6:15 PM: Roosevelt High School Jazz Combo outside on John & Penny Krantz Stage
6:30-7:30 PM: The Wayne Page Quintet outside on EMC Plaza
8:00-9:30 PM: Connie Evingson inside on Theater Stage

Tuesday, July 23
5:15-6:15 PM: CJC Youth Combo outside on John & Penny Krantz Stage
6:30-7:30 PM: Des Moines SAXSTRAVAGANZA outside on EMC Plaza
8:00-9:30 PM: Blake Shaw BIG(ish) Band inside on Theater Stage

Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket and lawn chairs to spread out and enjoy the opening sets outside. Attendees will be able to purchase food as well as beverages provided by the venue on site. Events will go on, rain or shine.
