This free summer program wouldn’t be possible without the help of its premier sponsor, Principal Foundation, as well as expertise from our Jazz in July Arts Advisor John Krantz.

Patrons are encouraged to bring a blanket and lawn chairs to spread out and enjoy the opening sets outside. Attendees will be able to purchase food as well as beverages provided by the venue on site. Events will go on, rain or shine.

Parranderos + Jazz is a musical group that features members of Parranderos Latin Combo combined with Jazz musicians from Iowa and the Midwest. The group plays original compositions by Parranderos mixed with Latin Jazz, Salsa, and Cumbia classics aimed to please the most discerning ears, hips, and feet. Line-up: Fernando Aveiga – Bass, vocals, Maria del Mar Melendez – Vocals, Nick Leo – Piano, Robert Espe – Sax, Juan Carlos Chaurand – Timbal, Pepe – bongo, Ryan Mullin – percussion

The purpose of the “Brazilian Jazz Project” is to promote and spread the contagious and vibrant Brazilian and Latin jazz music to the world. Gabriel and Alex met and have been playing together since 2016. Isac moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 2022. Their Brazilian Jazz Project emerged from the very first basement jam session at Isac’s home in the same year. The connection was instant between them and they have been performing together for over 2 years around Iowa with plans to tour overseas soon.
