The 30th Anniversary of Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation
In 2025, Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Foundation. In 1995, a small group of local leaders and members of the Des Moines Women’s Club worked together to establish an independent nonprofit foundation to oversee the operations and maintenance of Hoyt Sherman Place. Over the past 30 years, the Foundation has grown to be a prominent cultural institution in the Des Moines Community.
Celebrating 30 Years
• $15.7 million invested in capital improvements and art restoration.
• Over 1,500 ticketed events in the theater.
• 32% of all ticketed theater events are booked by community partners.
• Over 5,000 events across the entire venue.
• More than 1.5 million people have engaged with the organization.
• Ticket buyers from all 99 Iowa counties.
