Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation Receives Cultural Leadership Partner Operating Support Grant

Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation is the honored recipient of a $20,000 Cultural Leadership Partner Operating Support Grant. Support is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Iowa Arts Council, which exists within the Iowa Economic Development Authority. Recipients of this grant demonstrate their investment in a rich cultural environment that improves the quality of life for all Iowans. Current and prospective Cultural Leadership Partners display an exemplary record of programming, managerial excellence, and community service on a year-round basis to the citizens of Iowa.

Research shows that investments in arts and culture — in museums, performances and historic buildings, for example — help communities boost tourism, attract businesses, retain workers and improve the overall quality of life for residents. Accordingly, the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs helps Iowans invest in the people, places and points of pride that define our state, Hoyt Sherman Place being one of them.

Hoyt Sherman Place is a vibrant cultural destination where people can connect with art, music, history, and one another. The venue offers an intimate theater experience with extraordinary acoustics, a beautiful historic mansion, and a majestic art gallery. Ever since Hoyt Sherman completed his family home in 1877, this lovely space in Sherman Hill has been a hub of connection. From one-of-a-kind events to sharing art and exploring history, Hoyt Sherman Place has been engaged with its community for more than 100 years and is already planning for the next 100.
