Tickets can be purchased in person at the Hoyt Sherman Place Box Office, Monday - Friday from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Our Box Office is not able to process orders over the phone but patrons can call Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 to do so. Additionally, tickets can be purchased at any Ticketmaster Outlet or online at Ticketmaster.com.
Hoyt Sherman Place's Business Office hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Box Office is open Monday - Friday 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Unless there is an event scheduled, the facility is closed on the weekends.
Hoyt Sherman Place is located at 1501 Woodland Avenue.
If you are coming from the east side of Des Moines, take Interstate 235 westbound through the downtown area. Exit off the interstate at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway exit. At the 2nd stoplight, turn left onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, a one-way street, heading south. Go five blocks (3 stoplights), and turn left on Woodland Avenue. Keep heading east on Woodland Avenue five blocks, and Hoyt Sherman Place will be on your left-hand side, on the northwest corner of 15th Street and Woodland Avenue.
If you are coming from the west side of Des Moines, take Interstate 235 eastbound. Just before you reach the downtown area, you will exit off the interstate at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway exit. Turn right onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway, heading south. Go four blocks (2 stoplights), and turn left on Woodland Avenue. Keep heading east on Woodland Avenue five blocks, and Hoyt Sherman Place will be on your left-hand side, on the northwest corner of 15th Street and Woodland Avenue.
Interstate 235 runs east and west through town, but it meets up with 35/80 at both ends. If you are coming from north or south of town, it is easy to find.
Free of Charge:
There is a large parking lot directly to the east of Hoyt Sherman Place. Otherwise, there is ample street parking in the Sherman Hill neighborhood.
Valet parking is made available by Keck Parking at select events. $12 per vehicle. When offered, this service will be available one hour prior to show time on the east side of the building by the Box Office entrance.
For the majority of our events, we have a bar set up selling pop, water, beer, and wine. Our bars are CASH ONLY. We do have an ATM on site, located in the Box Office Lobby.
We do not sell food. No food is allowed in the theater.
Please note: outside food or drinks are prohibited.
The Art Galleries can accommodate 150 people for a sit-down meal. The Theater can hold 1,252 -- 776 seats on the main floor and 476 seats on the balcony level.

The public is more than welcome to conduct self-guided tours during our operating hours which are Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, unless we have an event in the building. Please call ahead to make sure we do not have a conflict with the time you would like to visit us.
We also offer tours led by Hoyt Sherman Place docents, which are available for groups of 10 or more and are $5.00 per person. To schedule a docent led tour please contact Allison Fegley at 515-244-0507 ext. 212.
