Robert Warren Hired as the Executive Director for Hoyt Sherman Place

Following a national search, George Wood, Chief Executive Office of VenuWorks, has announced that Robert Warren has been hired as the Executive Director of Hoyt Sherman Place. Warren's first day in the position was October 5.

"I am excited to have Robert join our team," said Wood. "We felt it was important to find the right person to lead the staff, work with the Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation and the Des Moines Women's Club, and continue to book great entertainment. We are confident that we have found that person in Robert."

Warren comes to Hoyt Sherman Place after having served as the Executive Director of Hartford Performs in Hartford, CT. His decorated career has also included positions such as Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall in Sarasota FL, Associate Producer at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. and Executive Producer for Creative Vision Entertainment Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Tom Slaughter, President of the Hoyt Sherman Place Board of Directors, is pleased to have RObert join the staff. "As a beautiful historical mansion, art gallery, and theater, Hoyt Sherman Place is a treasure of Des Moines. Robert's experience and passon for the arts and the communities served make him uniquely qualified to both honor the history of and to direct and lead the future mission of Hoyt Sherman Place. The Foundation Board looks forward to working with Robert."

Warren will join Hoyt Sherman Place during an eventful October that will include: Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt on October 16, Mary Chapin Carpenter on October 18, Matisyahu on October 28, and Foghat on October 29.
