Now Hoyt Sherman Place Theater fans have an opportunity to directly impact educational programming in the venue. Back by popular demand, Hoyt Sherman Place will once again raffle a guitar autographed by headliner artists who appeared on the historic stage in 2019.  All funds raised benefit Project S.T.A.G.E.


Artist signatures include Lyle Lovett, Boz Scaggs, Chris Issak, Kenny G, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Shawn Colvin, Ann Hampton Callaway, the Indigo Girls, George Thorogood, and more. Tickets can be purchased on site during ticketed performances for $25 or 5 for $100. For more information, contact Molly Pins at pins@hoytsherman.org or 515-348-6949.


Children’s programming remains a cornerstone of Hoyt Sherman Place’s mission to create outstanding experiences for the cultural, historic and educational benefit of Central Iowa its residents and communities. In April, the Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation will again present Project S.T.A.G.E. (Students, Teachers, Artists: Generating Excellence) Festival in partnership with the Kennedy Center’s Turnaround Arts Initiative and six Title 1 schools located in North Des Moines. The Festival highlight is peer-to-peer performances of Broadway Junior™ musicals. 

The Turnaround Arts Initiative began in 2012 under the President's Committee's partnership with the U.S. Department of Education and the White House Domestic Policy Council. The program is about integrating the arts into all academic disciplines to spur learning and achievement across the board.

Turnaround Arts schools receive an array of arts education services designed to increase their opportunities for success, engage in their communities, and raise the visibility of their achievements. Key to those efforts is arts education programming that is rigorous effective and integrated holistically into the school, as well as strategically targeted to address broader school challenges.
