Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation is honored to announce its four new, high profile board members. The combined and diverse expertise of Eric Grubb, Ross Johnson, John Krantz and John Schreurs will help to build upon the Foundation’s recent successes.

Eric Grubb is a 1999 graduate of the University of Iowa acquiring his real estate license in 2003 after he returned to the Des Moines area where he was born and raised. A third generation real estate professional, his family has been a leader in Des Moines real estate since his grandfather, John R. Grubb, bought his first piece of development ground in 1949. Growing up within the industry established a strong foundation of knowledge and contacts, as well as valuable examples of ethics and ambition. Eric is also co-owner of Newblood Development, a commercial and residential construction/development company with projects throughout the Greater Des Moines area.

Ross Johnson is a partner and the Des Moines office leader at Faegre Baker Daniels. He regularly represents local and national clients in agribusiness, product liability, toxic tort, personal injury, class action and general commercial. Since joining FaegreBD in 2000, Ross has participated in significant trials involving product defects, product contamination, contract disputes and defamation claims. He is also a member of the firm's nationally ranked product liability group. Before joining FaegreBD, Ross' practice in Arizona focused on litigating a range of insurance defense matters.

John Krantz attended The University of Iowa and the School of Contemporary Music in Boston, and later returned to Des Moines for a career at Adventureland that spanned forty-one years.   During those years, he “wore a lot of hats” performing a variety of duties as he rose through the ranks as well as serving a term on the Board of Directors of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions. John is also a very active jazz pianist performing for restaurants, festivals, non-profits and corporate events on a regular basis. He recently retired from Adventureland and lives in Des Moines with his wife Penny.

John Schreurs joined Strategic America in 1983 and has been deeply involved in all areas of the business including developing the agency’s field marketing expertise with innovative platforms and strategies for many regional and national clients. John shares his expertise in the advertising industry with his involvement in the American Association of Advertising Agencies while serving on the boards of corporate and non-profit firms. Locally, John is active in the leadership of many community and professional organizations, including the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce

The Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation’s vision is to be a premiere historic cultural center in Iowa, working with national and local partners to present outstanding performances, celebrate Iowa’s history and grow arts and culture in the region.
