Hoyt Sherman Place’s mission is to create outstanding experiences for the cultural, historic and educational benefit of Central Iowa and its residents and communities. Now, as a Bravo Cultural Enrichment Grant recipient for the 2020 calendar year, Hoyt Sherman Place Foundation will be able to continue to do just that.
The annual Cultural Enrichment Grant funding Hoyt Sherman Place receives from Bravo Greater Des Moines continues to be critical to the operations of the organization. Funding from Bravo allows the Foundation to broaden its collaborative and co-promotional efforts; helps to preserve and enhance the mansion, theater and art galleries; allows the doors to stay open to the public free of charge for tours; helps to maintain an extensive art collection; and enhances its outreach programming. The generous sum of money will greatly aid the Foundation’s continued effort to provide a variety of cultural experiences for Des Moines residents and its communities.
Bravo Greater Des Moines leverages community resources to maximize impact of arts, culture and heritage to advance regional priorities. A primary way Bravo does this is through community investment grantmaking programs. Bravo’s grant recipients draw tourists, increase resident satisfaction, help attract and retain talent and generally make Greater Des Moines a premier place to live, work and play. Since 2006, Bravo has awarded 964 grants to more than 100 arts, culture and heritage organizations totaling more than $38 million.
Bravo offers financial support to fund the operations, programs and educational activities of eligible applicants in Greater Des Moines. Applicants must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a primary focus of arts, culture or heritage. Grant funding from Bravo Greater Des Moines is made possible by the contributions of the following local government partners: Altoona, Ankeny, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Indianola, Johnston, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Polk City, Polk County, Urbandale, Waukee, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights.
